Women’s Day Sweetie Jar

How did you celebrate Women’s day this year? That special day when we can celebrate everything we are, all that we have achieved and our strength that silently shines when no one is looking.

Well I spent it with some friends being creative and my thought was to create little sweetie jars for these special ladies, decorated with a beautiful quote or sentiment. Let me add that this is a sweetie jar with a difference – something that won’t put on extra pounds or give them a sugar rush.

Lady Pattern Paper - Sweetie Jar

I made this little paper jar using my favourite Lady Pattern Paper Papers in Egyptian Gold – perfect to celebrate those strong independent and loyal women in my life.

Sweetie Jar - Step 1

Use a die-cut or punch to create some elements like scalloped borders. I painted all my elements in a layer of All Purpose Ink in Vegas Gold.

Sweetie Jar - Step 2

Use your Delicata inks and ink the edges of all the elements using a combination of Gold and Copper. Let the ink dry and then add some stamped details to some of the elements also using your Delicata ink pads.

Sweetie Jar - Step 3

Cut the body of the jar out of Egyptian Gold Heart paper and ink the edges using your Delicata Golden Glitz ink and a sponge dauber.
Now assemble your jar together by adhering all the cut out pieces together.

Sweetie Jar - Egyptian Gold - Stitched Cover

For the centre part of my jar I used a piece of clear packaging and sewed a pocket onto the front of the jar. I punched small circles from my scrap papers and added them inside the pocket and sewed it closed.

Sweetie Jar - Egyptian Gold - Pretty Flowers

To decorate my jar I used white flowers that I coloured by simply chalking the edges using my sponge dauber and Golden Glitz Delicata ink. Punch some leaves from the Lady Pattern Paper scraps and combine the flowers and leaves onto the jar with a stamped sentiment in black Delicata ink.

The handle at the top of the jar was embossed using black embossing powder and my Versamark ink pad.

Sweetie Jar - Egyptian Gold - Cofetti

And there you have a cute little sweetie jar for friends – it would make a great name tag as well for a luncheon, and above all it isn’t something that will collect dust and irritate them in years to come. It can be used on a project or turned into a card and paid forward.

So here’s to celebrating all those sweet women and friendships in my life, with a handmade sweetie jar made with love!
