We’re still celebrating golden women this month, and for me it is celebrating the broken but strong women. To celebrate those that are still standing after vast amounts of trouble and suffering in their lives. I am aware that everyone has a battle they fight on a daily basis, something that others may not necessarily experience in the same way – and so I try hard not to judge, but rather to understand and support no matter what.

So I created this little recycled tin with elements that signify a lot of strong qualities and that show struggle and signify hope at the same time.

I used a recycled oyster tin lined out with beautiful paper – golden paper that represents hope and everlasting love to me – a good foundation to build on. I then added some decorations like a broken butterfly – she may be broken at times, but she is much stronger than what others realise or know, she is real and true, she is hope and joy, she is her own person and she stands alone, rises to be strong and beautiful – even with a broken wing.

Gold ink, metal embellishments and only a few words describes her life perfectly. She is wound up tightly, radiates gold in her silence, is covered in blemishes and spots of suffering, she looks past the pettiness of the world, she focuses on hope and she stands strong grounded in that hope.

 

She is you women!

• Step 1

  Gather all your golden supplies that you want to use.



• Step 2

  Trace the bottom of the recycled and washed tin. Cut out the shape a little smaller than your traced lines. Ink the edges and adhere inside the tin.



• Step 3

  Use a small paint brush and add some gold All Purpose Ink splats inside the tin. Leave to dry.



• Step 4

  Paint the butterfly in a layer of gold All Purpose ink and leave to dry.



• Step 5

  Once the gold API is dry, use a sponge dauber and Dark Brown Delicata ink and ink the edges of the butterfly. Leave to dry or heat set using a heat gun.

Assemble the tin using all your elements. Adhere all the pieces to the tin using dimensional glaze. Sprinkle the adhesive with gold microbeads and glass glitter.

Add some wording to finish off your tin. And keep it as a daily reminder of how strong and beautiful you are – not matter what people do and say to you.
