“Making mixed media backgrounds can be so therapeutic. I think mixed media speaks to so many people because the actual act of adding paints and inks onto a piece of paper or in a journal, makes us feel better.
Making art, throwing ink and paint onto paper does not always warrant an explanation. I love it, I love the effect, I love colours, I love textures and it makes me feel good. So does it really matter if I make an amazing piece of art, a layout or a card? No, for me the process of creating is what makes me feel better.
That is also the reason why I will keep on creating, keep on exploring colour and texture and keep on loving it, not for anyone else but for ME. And I want you to do the same. Make art, make beautiful pieces filled with emotion and texture – and be happy with what you make. If its perfect great, if its imperfect even better. Because in our imperfection, in this imperfect world, we need this little something that makes us feel better, makes us feel alive again.
So go make art and LIVE! ” ~ Jowilna Nolte
Apply Little Birdie Mixed Media Texture Paste through a stencil and leave to dry.
Select your ink or medium to add colour.
I first added a layer of Couture Creations Black Alcohol Ink blended with Blending Solution. Then I added a layer of Navy KAISERmist. I misted some ink onto a plastic packet, misted lightly with water and then used the packet to stamp the ink over the background. Leave the background to dry naturally.
