So when it comes to art in your home, are you a creative person decorate? Well for me it is quick and simple – minimalistic in some ways but always classic and timeless. The Silhouette offers me the necessary help when it comes to getting the job done! For this project I used my Silhouette CAMEO to cut some modern shapes out of smooth white cardstock and then added some colour with my much loved Tsukineko All-Purpose Inks. I love how this project turned out.

How I created my framed modern art in a few easy steps

• Step 1

  I found this image of the shape I wanted to use on the internet. Imported it into my Silhouette Library and opened it. Once opened I traced the shape into a somewhat weird looking image. This happens because of the original black and white image I traced. Using my Silhouette software I drew lines overlapping the shape to create my own shape that I could cut.



• Step 2

  Once I had the shapes I copied it several times onto my cutting matt using the software and then sent it to the Silhouette to cut.



• Step 3

  I used smooth AC Cardstock for cutting my shapes out of.



• Step 4

  I selected four colours of All-Purpose inks that would work well in my décor scheme.



• Step 5

  I dropped several drops of the fours colours of inks onto my cut sheet – I left the shapes intact to colour them and only removed them once dry.



• Step 6

  After each colour was dropped onto the cut sheet with an ink dropper I misted the ink with water to make the inks flow and create interesting effects.



• Step 7

  Once the inked shapes were dry, I carefully removed them from the cut sheet and adhered them onto a base piece of cardstock using Tombo mono multi adhesive. I worked with one shape at a time making it easier to keep track of adhering all the bits and pieces.

Once the entire base cardstock was filled with my coloured pieces, I popped it back into the frame for a gorgeous quick and easy DIY modern art piece. I am definitely going to make more of these as gifts. And that’s how I use my inks and Silhouette to make my life colourful, meaningful and beautiful each day!
