How do you get more out of your die-cuts? Well you use them in different ways combined with different materials right? Right! So today I am sharing a quick way of using the same cut to get a different look and effect on a background for your layout.
For my layout I used a single paint splat die-cut from Couture Creations. It is so cute and delicate and there are so many ways you can use it, colourful, neutral as a texture etc. I chose to create a subtle texture background on my layout. I used the die to cut several shapes out of patterned paper, custom coloured cardstock and then used my negative as a stencil. By changing the materials I used with the one design, I managed to create a fun look that sits in the background without taking away attention from my photograph – the real story I am telling. The die-cut elements are simple a supporting act – making my background interesting without being distracting! A quick and easy way of utilising your products in different ways…
Here’s how to create your Couture Creations die-cuts background step by step
-
Step 1
Place your die-cut you are going to use with the edge side facing upwards
-
Step 2
Cover the die-cut with a layer of ADCO 723818 Quick Release Die Paper
-
Step 3
Cut the shapes pout of several piece of Lady patterned paper
-
Step 4
Cut some more shapes out of some custom coloured cardstock
-
Step 5
Use the cut out negative pieces as a stencil. Place the stencil part on your background and spread a thin layer of Prima crackle paste over the image using a palette knife
-
Step 6
Carefully remove the stencil from the wet crackle paste and let it dry on your background. Continue filling the background with as many of the stencilled images as you wish, thyen adhere the die-cut images of the same shape and adhere them overlapping onto the remainder of the background
And there you have a funky custom made background using a single die-cut shape, but creating different effects and looks all in one.
