Johannesburg – Emperors Palace
What a marvellous event! Thank you to the organisers who worked so hard to bring together such a wonderful feast of friends, colleagues, world class teachers and idols! Keep your eyes on the SA Scrapbook Convention website for future events! Of course the Cape Town event is still to come and I’m sure there are a few ladies already counting sleeps! Our very own Val Colin (lucky girl!) attended the show and here are a couple of words from her.
Amber & Kevin Crowell – Simple Stories
“Kevin and Amber are lovely people. Felt like I had known them forever. Their class was so inspiring. Amber taught us how to make flowers using circles cut out of their paper – they look amazing and also how to make full use of their Flash Card paper – just by the way you cut it. Really enjoyed them and their ideas.” – Val Colin

Amy Tan – American Crafts
“Amy is a very interesting lady with stories about how she got into the industry – Cindy Crawford wears some of her products!!!!! We did a mini booklet with the Amy Tangerine Range and also used the Fab(ric) Strips to hold some of the pages in place. Her ideas are really good and the whole book was bright and colourful using lots of stickers. Enjoyed by all.” – Val Colin

Kerri Gurney – Art Deco Creations
“Kerrie is such a lovely lady and her class was most enjoyable and informative. The ladies were so impressed when she showed us how to use the Art Deco Creations embossing folders to stamp with –such a brilliant idea, as well as cutting out some of the embossing and placing a contrasting colour behind it to accentuate it. After the hectic weekend, Kerrie’s class was nice and relaxed. Kerrie just loved the fact that our specific classroom was “Australia”! We all grabbed the opportunity to let her know that South Africa are still the best Rugby players in the world…she disagreed since we had just lost the game against the Aussies but we stuck to our story anyway.” – Val Colin

Thank You to all at the Wholesaler (hello, again, Val!) for your sponsorship of the Convention. Glenda Viljoen’s events get better every year, setting the trend for S.A. scrappers- those of us lucky to attend and, I believe, the wider market, as most of the shop owners & teachers carry the techniques taught back to the non-attendees. Get ready to sell TONS of product, particularly Simple Stories, and please bring Amber & Kevin back soon!
I was so lucky to attend the convention for the very first time. What an experience! I just loved it and hope to be lucky enough to go next year again :-)
Groot dankie vir die wholesaler se borge op die SA Convention. Vir my is dit iets om na uit te sien elke jaar. Glenda, dankie vir jou DIT WAS BAIE BAIE LEKKER !!!
