With the Festive Season creeping closer and closer I am thinking more about how I can make a difference in other’s lives and how I can simplify how we celebrate Christmas even more. And that’s why I love the new Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage range. I think this range is beautiful uncomplicated and real – it has a Christmas feel to it and yet it has an air of simplicity about it.

So for this festive season and I wanted to create a range of dimensional cards that can act as a little gift as well. This card is just that. Plus I used my favourite shape to create this easy to re-create card – circles! I used a combination of folded circles to create a Christmas Bauble and adhered it to the front of my card.

 

Tip

• As an alternative you can create the baubles and use them on your tree as ornaments which are a beautiful handmade alternative to store bought and commercial elements.

 

Here’s how to make this card

How to make your dimensional Christmas Bauble

 

Step 1

Use a large circle punch and punch at least 10 circles from patterned paper. I used a 3” (7.5cm) circle punch. Double sided paper works well as it gives you twice the visual appeal.

Step 2

Fold each of your circles in half. Remember that the colour that is on the inside of your circle is the colour that will be visible. So if you are using double sided paper make sure that you alternate the colours on the inside.

Step 3

Now adhere all the half circles together. Add a small amount of Tombow glue to one flat side of the folded circle and continue adding half circles until you have adhered all the circles together. Adhere the two remaining flat sides to the front of your card and then decorate the bauble using ribbon and beads.

 

Tip

• Remember that the minimum punched circles for a bauble is ten. The more circles you adhere together the nicer the effect will be in the end.

 

Design alternative

To add more dimension to this design, try adding smaller circles inside the larger circles before completing your bauble by adhering the larger circles together.

Turning your bauble into a hanging ornament

To turn this bauble design into a hanging ornament, adhere all the folded circles together. When you reach the end, thread a piece of ribbon through the centre and then adhere the last to half circle together to form a full circle. Make a bow in the top half of the circle and thread decorative beads and crystals at the bottom. You now have a beautiful hanging tree ornament. This is a great activity for the kids to get involved in trimming the tree.
