Trending – Adult Colouring In Just For Fun!

The hottest and latest trend to hit the adult scene this year was colouring in books. This was a fabulous thing as adults started shopping the aisles for markers, pencils and any other form of art product that can turn a somewhat bland white image into an array of colour and texture. Giving the senses an artist explosion without criticism and judgement, adults could now relax and unwind in the comfort of their own little world where they become one with art.

Adult Colouring In - Artiste Markers

Is this you? Well then you are one of the lucky millions who has gone gaga over adult colouring in and the therapy it offers and the joy it brings. For me well, let’s just say I am far from being bitten by the bug.

But in all honesty I was inspired by how I could use what I already own to make some colouring in pages for myself or rather by myself – turns out to be such a good idea I am now sorted for birthday and other quick gifts for friends who has settled into the role of “colourinner “and made them small gifts.

Here’s how I did it

  • Step 1

You will need thick white cardstock/watercolour paper, rubber stamps and a black VersaFine ink pad.

  • Adult Colouring In - Step 1

  • Step 2

Using a VersaFine ink pad stamp assorted images using your stamps randomly over a sheet of thick white cardstock or watercolour paper.

  • Adult Colouring In - Step 2

  • Step 3

Use various Artiste Markers colour some of the stamped images in directly using your markers.

  • Adult Colouring In - Step 3

  • Step 4

For larger parts of the images and the background I used a small paint brush and added water to my markers on a palette. Then paint the larger pieces giving you a watercolour effect.

  • Adult Colouring In - Step 4

  • Step 5

You can use various of your other craft goodies to further enhance the coloured images by adding glitter like the art sugar using dimensional glaze, or lightly mist the coloured in image using a shimmer mist for a fine glow adding texture.

I know for sure that my niece is going to love this stack of colouring images and a set of Artiste markers for her birthday. She can colour them in, frame them, make cards with them and at least she will be kept busy for a while during the school holidays.

And as for me, I am off to stamp some more pages…Happy colouring in!
