This month we focus on the beautiful collection of papers by Simple Stories. The fact that SS understands time and budget is key factors that appeals to scrappers all over the world. I love that their easy to use matching papers and stickers are fun, vibrant and can work across the board with their other collections.

For my layout I used the beautiful Harvest Lane Collection pack – the papers, stickers and memorabilia pockets work perfectly together for a beautifully co-ordinated project.

Simple Stories - Harvest Lane Thankful Layout

I combined the 6×6” paper pad designs together with the large sheets of patterned papers to create the centre strip of my layout. The advantage of the smaller paper pads are that the designs are smaller so they are dainty and perfect for fillers on layouts and for using them on cards as stand-alone elements. Once I created the centre piece of the layout I added the photos and supporting elements. Here are some more details of how you can use the Simple Stories papers to create texture and dimension…

Accent Colours

Simple Stories - Harvest Lane Ribbon

The bingo cards cut from the large sheet of paper is perfect as accents and also to use as an accent colour on your layout. Notice how I used the red of the ‘happiness’ card, buttons and the ribbon on the left as my accent colour.

Dimension

Flowers cut from the papers are inked and raised using foam to add dimension along the top edge of the layout on either side of the photo. To repeat the raised elements I used a memorabilia pocket with an elevated sticker on top of the front flap.

Contrast

Simple Stories - Harvest Lane Chipboard
Create interest by grouping contrasting elements and colours together on your project. The brown from the patterned papers is repeated by colouring the chipboard elements in brown. By repeating colours throughout the layout from left to right the viewer’s eye is drawn across the layout.

Layer

Simple Stories - Harvest Lane Stickers

Stickers are perfect for quick layering options. Combine stickers on top of each other and group other elements on top of them to add dimension. Stickers also look great and can change in an instance by simply matting them onto scrap pieces of cardstock.
