How to dress up a stencilled background in a few easy steps…I love stencils, but how do you create a bit more interest when using them? Well, you layer of course. Just adding a few extra details is all it takes to make your stencilled image a bit more interesting.
TIP: Remember to carefully apply the ink with repeated tapping or small circular movements to avoid pulling the ink sponge off the base.
-
Step 2
Use a stencil design and blend different ink colours over the inked background. I used Memento Paris Dusk blended with a finger dauber and then layered the second colour using Memento Rich Cocoa.
-
Step 3
Use a white gel pen and outline some of the flower images to highlight them a bit more than the rest of the stencilled images.
TIP: you can place your stencil on the background over the original stencilled image and just trace the pattern, or draw around the image freehand using a white pen.
-
Step 4
Using a Kaisercraft stamp and die-cut set, stamp the image and colour using the same ink pad colours you used for the background.
-
Step 5
Use the corresponding die-cut to cut out the image and adhere it to the card. Dress up the cupcake strawberry by adding a layer of dimensional glaze and a light sprinkle of glitter to finish it off.
Add a sentiment to the card and finish off with diamante.
And there you have a ten-minute card dressed up with a layered stencil and a cute image.
