With Christmas almost upon us…it’s time to start thinking about décor ideas, gifts and all those beautiful crafty things we keep ourselves busy with. With the new Quilted Christmas Cricut Cartridges the possibilities are endless. I used the cartridge to create a beautiful little snow-capped village that can sit on my mantle place – yes I still dream of a white Christmas.
I used a little wooden house covered in book paper on some sides and the rest of the sides I simply spray painted. For the snow-capped roof I used wood glue to create streaks of runny snow and covered the wet glue with American Crafts Glitter to create a grainy effect. Then I sprayed the dried glitter glue parts with a creamy white spray paint to tone down everything.
I kept the décor elements simple with just a few hints of colour using American Crafts Cardstock to die-cut the elements. The beautiful Petaloo White Mulberry Flowers add some soft textures to the front of the little wooden house. A couple of streaks of glitter glue swipes along the bottom edges of the roof added some sparkle. On the die-cut elements I used Anita’s 3D Clear Gloss Finish to highlight certain areas – this also took away the brightness of the red cardstock making it fit perfectly with the toned down colours of Christmas Village.
Something simple as a little wooden house can turn into beautiful quilted Christmas decorations using a few craft supplies and a bit of imagination. So next time you go shopping look out for something to alter into a crafty element.

SOOOO gorgeous!!! where did you buy the wooden house please?
Beautiful work ! Love the snow texture you created
Hi Heidi
thank you so much! The little wooden doll house was bought at Mr Price Home. They can be found in the kiddies section of the store. The original colour is pink and yellow and it is flat balsa wood – so that means you pop out each peace and then build it to get the finished product. Hope you find one – they truly are loads of fun.
