Sometimes just for fun I make stuff or a piece of paper sparks an idea. And so it happened that while I was working with the Happy Days range of paper and considering how much I loved that sheet with the little paint cans on it….. and given the fact that I have been doing a lot of furniture painting I just happened to have a paint can on hand. And so it came to be…

Creative Paint Can

So here’s what I did just for fun

I took scraps of the Happy Days patterned paper and adhered them to a plain base of cardstock that would wrap around the paint can. I adhered the strips of paper at an angle and then sewed the edges to add some texture. After covering the paint can in the paper came the fun part of decorating. I used some of the Petaloo flowers to create a stream of colour running down the sides of the handles.

Then I used ordinary wax crayons in green, yellow and red and melted them using my heat gun so that they would drip down the front side resembling paint dripping down the side. For my finishing touches I cut a phrase “find ur passion” on my Cricut Expression 2 out of brown cardstock and adhered it to the front of the can. I then used Anita’s 3D Glaze on the letters and covered them with WOW! Glitter for a really funky pop of colour. A few random butterflies and ladybugs finished off this fun project.

Creative tip:

  • You could create a fun mini album to place and store inside the decorated paint can. A cute gift for someone special and creative.
