I love working with different inks to create a beautiful imperfect look on backgrounds. For this quick and easy set of cards, I created a water coloured background using a single ink colour. To add interest to my coloured panel I added some stamped and embossed images using Kaisercraft stamp sets.
The beauty of the Memento LUXE ink pads is that the inks work well with water, so you can create the most stunning effects on watercolour paper or technique cardstock, as well as on the American Crafts smooth white cardstock. These types of techniques work really well on smooth cardstock that can handle water well. A quick technique that can look different each and every time you do it.

Here’s how I create my backgrounds in a few easy steps:

Step 1
Lightly press the ink pad onto your craft sheet to transfer the ink onto the sheet.

Step 2
Mist the ink with water until the ink starts to form coloured drops.

Step 3
Press your cardstock into the wet ink and lift it immediately. To add more colour dip it again until you are happy with the look and then set it aside to dry.

Step 4
On a scrap piece of the colour paper, stamp arrow images in Rich Cocoa ink and cut it out for the front of your card.
On the larger coloured background, stamp and emboss a sentiment in white embossing powder.
