Well, the silly season is officially behind us and its time to buckle down and get on with 2014. I made a few New Year’s resolutions this year and chose to use one word as my mantra for 2014. That word is “balance”. So, in keeping with my mantra I decided to do something I seldom do and that is to use a photo of myself on a project for a change and not just pictures of the kids.

Spring Bloom by Kaisercraft sounds all floral and girlie but in fact it is quite a gender neutral range which may just become one of my favourites.

I chose to construct a shadow box frame from paper and I used cardstock, as it is textured and so sturdy, but easy to work with.

Decorating the inside was super easy as I let the lovely papers do the talking.

There are many templates on the Internet for these frames or use a digital die cutting machine if you have one. The Cricut would do this in a flash. I did not use a single piece of ribbon or flower on this as the elements from the Collectables were all I needed.

So whatever your New Year’s resolution is for 2014, keep crafting, have fun and try something new
