For this art journal page, I wanted to add some texture to my stencil work. With art journaling and mixed media, it really is so easy to create something beautiful. I combined a few of my favourite things together to create a page filled with colour, texture and resist. Let’s look at how I did it.
-
Step 1
Use Matt Texture paste and apply it through a stencil. I use an old credit card to spread the paste over the large area making it a lot easier.
-
Step 2
While the paste is still wet, sprinkle clear or white microbeads over parts of the stencilled image and leave to dry. You can also use a heat gun to dry the matte paste.
-
Step 3
Mist the journal page lightly with water. Then drip All-Purpose Ink onto the wet page using one colour at a time. Lightly mist the ink on top and let it spread out as much as you want. Use a heat gun to dry the ink.
-
Step 4
Use VersaFine Clair ink and stamp faded dots around the stencilled and coloured areas.
-
Step 5
Use a white gel pen and graphite pencil to add details to the design. Add some old book pages cut into strips and adhere them using Tombow adhesive. Add additional coloured splats if so desired.
In a few easy steps you can create a gorgeous effect using texture paste, stencils and a few inks.
