It’s so easy to create your own elements to use on layouts. Even better when you can recycle everyday elements from the home to do that. Take a look at how I created these stunning butterflies to use on layouts and cards, on top of clusters in mixed media and so much more.
-
Step 1
Find a leaflet from any medicine or tablet box you have in the home. Carefully unfold the leaflet with the fine writing on it. Use a light colour of VersaFine Clair ink and gently swipe the ink pad across the paper.
-
Step 2
While the ink is still wet, use a piece of roller towel and wipe the ink until it is dry.
-
Step 3
Repeat the same process with 2 more ink colours to create a colourful background.
-
Step 4
Use a glue stick and adhere the coloured paper piece to a sheet of smooth white cardstock. Leave until the adhesive is dry.
-
Step 5
Die-cut butterflies out of the coloured piece of paper with the now firm cardstock backing that will make the die-cutting easier and give the butterflies some substance. The butterflies have an amazing variegated look with some of the writing showing through and giving so much interest.
