Blooms and petals, bold and beautiful has a certain appeal to creative souls like me. Each time I use them I remind myself that I don’t use them often enough. Prima flowers are especially beautiful when the focus is placed on them – centre stage.
For my layout I wanted to use the flowers in a way that won’t take away too much attention from the photos but also compliment the layout overall.
I combined the gorgeous flowers with the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss range because the colours matched so beautifully and the design would be perfect for my layout. The flowers had enough masculine lines for my layout and the necessary softness that suits my style of scrapping. I added some beautiful butterflies to support the theme and design used in the papers.
To mimic the flowers I created some flower petals using a stencil and texture paste onto a separate piece of cardstock. Once the texture paste was dry I added colour using Mister Huey inks in Pink and yellow tones. The colour created the just enough interest. Once dry I cut the petals out separately and adhered them to my layout. To add finer details I added sewn stitches to the top of the petals. A few scattered >diamantés in between the petals add some sparkle.
But in the end it is the beautiful blooms arranged at the top of the layout that added the necessary colour and softness to my layout.
