Glamorous Cards Art Deco Style

I love the beautiful docrafts Art Deco line of crafting goodies just released. The classic images are perfect for cards, but even more perfect for formal invitations. So often people ask for invitations and cards with a classic evening look in black and white – and the Art Deco papers and stamps are perfect for just that. I can envision beautiful creations for Matric Dances, Weddings, Anniversaries and special celebrations all round.

For my project I wanted to include the lovely frame embossing folder. To create a special card I used the embossing folder as my design starting point.

Here’s how I went about designing my card.

I first embossed the frame onto a plain piece of cardstock. Then I added colour and texture using different mediums like glitter glue, pearls, diamanté and paint to add highlights to the stamped image.
I cut a piece of the black and gold foiled paper slightly smaller than my card.
Adhere the embossed piece to the right side of the black foiled paper.
Then adhere a strip of purple patterned paper to the left edge of the embossed and stamped piece.
Add a foil die-cut sentiment flush with the left edge of the card spine. Decorate the edges by adding sewing using a sewing machine.
Finish off your card using diamanté, rhinestones, pearls and glitter glue.

This card is made really easy by using the matching elements found in the Art Deco Range of products. So next time you need to create some special invitations, make Art Deco and docrafts your first stop for inspiration.

Tip

  • For added shine I combined the Brush markers with some pearl pigment powders to form a paintable medium. When dry the pigment powders give the painted images a wonderful shimmery look.
