Creating framed accents on a layout is so easy. You simply cut the frame and pop it around a photo right? Using a die-cut frame on a card is just as easy, simply cut a frame, stamp an image and pop it into the frame and there you have a quick card. But on closer inspection there is quite a bit we can do with die-cut frames…

For this card I wanted to use more than just the one frame and so I did a bit of mixing and matching and puzzle solving – just to add a bit more interest to my card.

 

• Step 1

  Die-cut the white cardstock using your Stitched squares nesting die to get the inner square.



• Step 2

  Use a small piece of washi tape and adhere the two nesting frames together. Then cut your frame portion. TIP: The washi tape holds the dies together securely so that they won’t move while cutting.



• Step 3

  Stamp the one frame using your Versafine ink and the postmarks stamp repeatedly. TIP: Stamping onto the frame just adds a bit of interest to an otherwise bland frame.



• Step 4

  Use your All Purpose ink to colour the die-cut square cardstock. Then use sponge daubers and Memento Luxe ink pads to add more colouring by blending over the coloured paper. Stamp a sentiment onto the coloured square.



• Step 5

  Colour your die-cut frame using All Purpose ink and leave to dry.



• Step 6

  Now combine the stamped frame, the coloured frame and the coloured square on the front of your card.

I adhered the coloured square first using foam tape, then adhered the purple coloured frame around it flat using my Tombow adhesive but at a slight angle, and then adhered the stamped frame also at an angle using my Tombow adhesive.

By off-setting and angling the frames you create interest with the different layers.

 

A fun alternative for cards and layouts using your nesting dies to create funky frames.
