Probably one of the most useful tools I have ever had in my stash. That is until I actually learned how to use it and took the time to use it fully.

What I have discovered is that with all those beautiful and maybe off-cut patterned paper in my stash I can create beautiful envelopes for my handmade cards without spending any money. Plus I can match patterned paper and colours to my cards for a really unique look.

Here’s a quick look at how to use the envelope punch board.

• Step 1

  On the envelope punch board you will find measurements for different sized cards and envelopes to match – this makes it really easy for you to create custom envelopes for your cards.



• Step 2

  Cut your paper to measure 8×8 inches square. TIP: On your board you will find the Score line next to the paper size – this is an important measurement for the next step.



• Step 3

  Insert the paper into the board flush at the top. Line up the left edge on the score line on the 3 1/8” mark.



• Step 4

  Punch the notch by pressing down onto the punch top.



• Step 5

  Use the bone folder included at the bottom of the score board and score the line by sliding the bone folder in the groove from the top to the bottom.



• Step 6

  Remove the paper and turn it clock wise 90 degrees.



• Step 7

  Line up the scored line on the paper with the score line indicator on the board.



• Step 8

  Punch the notch and then score the next line. Repeat this until you have punched all four notches and scored all the line.



• Step 9

  Use the bone folder and burnish the folds of the envelope. This will help the envelope flaps lie nice and flat.




• Step 10

  Fold in the left short flap, then the right flap and then the bottom flap. Add some double sided tape to the short flap sides and then adhere the bottom flap. Remember to not put adhesive on the bottom flap otherwise you will actually close your envelope permanently.




• Step 11

  Remember to clear out the bits from underneath the punch board and replace your bone folder so it does not get lost.
