Silver linings…how to be creative even when you have almost no fancy products…

People often complain about how they need something specific to do a certain thing. I say nonsense…if you have a creative mind and can do something with your hands, the sky is the limit!

I created some beautiful cards with left-overs, typing paper and nothing fancy apart from my embossing powder and VersaMark ink pad…let’s take a look.

 

• Step 1

  I used paint and a roller on typing paper to create some interesting backgrounds. For example, if you have a stencil of a punched heart you can add a pattern. Or if you have a toothpick, add some scratches in the paint for a cool effect.

[box type=”warning”] Nothing difficult or expensive – just having fun and creating colour and patterns on thin 80gsm typing paper.

• Step 2

  Ink a texture plate or stamp using your VersaMark ink pad and stamp the pattern onto your typing paper background.



• Step 3

  Sprinkle the stamped image with silver embossing powder and shake off the excess powder.

TIP: Always use a scrap sheet of paper so you can return the powder to the container, or decant your powder into a tub and work over that so you don’t waste.

• Step 4

  Heat set the powder using your heat gun.




• Step 5

  Adhere the background to a folded card front. Add some embellishments and a focal point.

For my cards I used a fabric label up-cycled from packaging and a stamped image I had on my desk. I simply added a few flowers from my stash and some diamante that I found.

 

Nothing fancy, beautiful embossing, colours, textures and a few embellishments later you can create beautiful cards, even using typing paper from the office. So there is no excuse not to be creative this coming week. Happy playing!
