Easter Decoration Ideas – Easter Decorative Die Memo Block

Easter is that fun time of the year when fluffy bunnies, bright colours and lots of chocolate become a dream come true for every adult and kid around town. We lay down all inhibitions and even the toughest of hearts crumble under the cuteness factor.

So I wanted to create a little something that can also help keep me on track during this hectic time of the year – does anyone else also find it stressful? So I made this little wooden cube memo black complete with a clip to hold important little post it notes and an old recycled baking tin thingy (can you tell yet that I am not really a kitchen person). Anyways moving right along to what I do know…

Easter Decoration Ideas Memo Block Die Cut Frame

I used the new Van Roe Collection of dies from Couture Creations and they cut like a hot knife through butter. The dies have definitely been improved and even something as simple as the words and delicate filigree dies cut perfectly without any hassle. So those are the dies I used on my project.

I used the filigree frame cut out of pink paper and added a printed little Easter bunny picture inside. To dress up the fairly plain frame I used a dictionary stamp and Brilliance Ink to stamp the wording onto the frame adding a subtle pattern to it. I used two different word dies “journey” and “discover” and cut them out of brown paper. I first added double sided tape to the back of my paper before cutting the words, making it a lot easier to adhere to my project – I did not have to fiddle with liquid glue and risking the chance of getting ugly adhesive marks all over my die-cut words.

Easter Decoration Ideas Die Cut Frame

I used the Royal Oval frame to cut my frame out of pink paper. I kept the inside which was a perfect oval.

Easter Decoration Ideas Trace Inside

Use the inside left-over from your die-cut frame and trace it onto a printed Easter image. Cut out the image and ink the edges.

Easter Decoration Ideas Stamp Onto Frame

Use a dictionary stamp with Brilliance ink to add some interest onto your frame by stamping onto it repeatedly.

Easter Decoration Ideas Tape Before Cutting

Use a 50mm wide double sided tape and add it to the back of your paper before die-cutting smaller elements, shapes or words – this way you will have adhesive to the back when you are done cutting avoiding any sticky situations adding adhesives

I covered my wooden block in some pretty Easter themed paper and then added my decorative elements. On top I used an old metal tin filled with pretty flowers and a clip of tension wire to hold my notes. The rest as they say is history…
