Dressed to Impress

There comes a time in every little girl’s life when they play dress up. Sometimes the period lasts well into adulthood. And boy does BasicGrey have the perfect range of scrapbooking papers to compliment a dress up theme. For this layout I used the beautiful Lucille and Serenade ranges together for this layout. I love how the colours and patterns complement each other.

To create some interest on the layout I used the packaging of a dressmaker’s pattern as part of the design, and also incorporated the actual dress maker’s pattern sheet into it as well. I adhered the thin flimsy printed sheets of pattern onto white cardstock to form it up before cutting it into a large rick-rack design that I used on the right side of my layout. On the left-over piece I stamped wording and trim it around the edges to use on my layout below the enlarged photograph.

My large photo had a nice big piece of negative space that could be used – and this chipboard element by Celebr8 was the perfect element to use in the black space. I kept it neutral as the colouring worked really well with the patterned papers and offered beautiful contrast on the black background of the photo.

A final touch of gold glitter glue on the cut out flowers adds some glamour to a simply classy layout – dressed to impress any little girl.
