Little Birdie flowers have a special place in my heart. And especially the smaller flowers and those with interesting details. And when it comes to creating with colour, the white flowers are the best. I can simply colour and change them to what I want them to be. Today I am sharing colour misted blooms panel I created using Little Birdie flowers and Kaisercraft KAISERmists.
Step 1
You will need a canvas or watercolour panel to work on, Heavy Gel, Mica flakes, Mica Power and Crystal drops.
Step 2
Place the flowers you want to use along with some other elements on your panel to determine placement. Once you are happy with the placement, lift the flowers, add some heavy gel medium to each flower at the back and then place it down and lightly press it to grab hold of the panel.
I adhered everything including my small beads and crystal drops with the Heavy Gel. Note that the gel will create a resist effect (towards the bottom of my panel where the white shows through the colour). I love this effect and it was done with intention.
Step 3
Leave the gel to dry and make sure all your elements are stuck down really well. Then use some KAISERmists and spray the panel to add colour. I used a combination of blue, peach and purple with some gold on top.
Step 4
Once you are happy with the colour mist lightly with water to make sure the colours run and flow into all the white spaces. Then leave to dry naturally.
Once the panel was dry, I lightly dusted it with some Mica Powder. Spray the canvas with some fixative and while wet lightly dust the mica on selected areas. Then leave to dry. I also coated the panel again with some fixative making sure all the inks and powers are set permanently.
