Crate Paper Flea Market Photo Frame

By now we all a bit hungry for some beautiful new papers and scrapbooking goodies – aren’t we? I hunger for a bit of colour as summer sets into full swing – something fun and vibrant that can be used for just about anything. And because I am not a scrapper that minds pinks and floral for boys…the new Crate Paper Flea Market range was right up my alley. I love the patterns, the colours and the details – the thoughtful elements and lettering available is simply amazing and so very versatile.

I wanted to make something that could be perfect as a little gift – creating and gift giving go hand in hand – plus it doesn’t fill up my precious work space. So I went hunting for a versatile frame and found this one from Pep Home – yip – a whole nine rand I paid for it – a pretty good deal I think. So what better way to dress it up than with the beautiful new range of papers and embellishments?

Crate Paper - Flea Market Frame

I didn’t want to go over board – because it simply isn’t my style – so I opted for a couple of favourite papers in the range and embellishments along with a clever little recycling idea.

Recycle That!

I added an additional frame on top of the bought frame. I used an empty Purple Turtle double sided tape roll. These are perfect for so many things! I started off by measuring the width of the cardboard roll and cut 2 strips of patterned papers and measured them to the right length so that they overlap only by 5mm. Keep in mind that the outer measurement will be longer than the inner.
I then added a thin layer of Tombow Mono Multi and adhered my paper strips. Once the adhesive was dry I lightly sanded the edges to smooth them out for a nice clean finish. PS. The new Ingvild Bolme Distressing Tool also distributed by The Wholesaler will work perfect for this step too.

Crate Paper - Flea Market Circle

Once I was happy with the edges I printed a photo and adhered it to the back and trimmed it closely using my Couture Creations Craft Knife and sanded it down again for a smooth and neat edge. A layer of diamanté on the front edge and a simple bow finished off the additional circle photo frame.

  • These could make cute Christmas tree decorations – get the kids to help you make them. So next time you run out of Purple Turtle Double Sided tape…hang onto those empty rolls.

#Love You Layout

This range really is so very versatile and I created this layout using some of the scraps and chipboard I already had out on my desk. This range is sure become a firm favourite.
