{"id":9292,"date":"2014-07-18T10:34:59","date_gmt":"2014-07-18T08:34:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/?p=9292"},"modified":"2016-02-22T09:44:42","modified_gmt":"2016-02-22T07:44:42","slug":"decoupage-recycled-clipboard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/decoupage-recycled-clipboard\/","title":{"rendered":"Decoupage Recycled Clipboard"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Whether you are a seasoned decoupager (and yes I just made that my word) or someone like me who loves to adhere beautiful paper and cut-outs to objects then it is clear that you love paper as much as I do.<\/h3>\n[box type=&#8221;info&#8221;]\n<h4>Decoupage \u2013n<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>The art or process of decorating a surface with shaped or illustrations cut from paper, card, wrapping paper etc.<\/li>\n<li>Anything produced by this technique.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/h3>\n<p>I have always loved the fact that I can decorate something as simple as a recycled piece of cardboard (or old box) and make something functional and pretty.<\/p>\n<p>So this week I did just that. I used a piece of old cardboard and made something pretty and functional using only a few things I already hand on hand. Use your craft knife and metal ruler to cut it slightly bigger than what your note book will be. Then add your base patterned paper and paint another layer of gel medium on top of the paper. Leave it to dry thoroughly. <em><strong>TIP<\/strong> \u2013 if you use an artist quality gel medium it will pull the paper smooth against the base surface. Even if it makes small air pockets and bubbles, avoid the urge to smooth it out with your fingers \u2013 the gel medium will take care of it for you naturally. I started off my career in retail working in a paper shop importing handmade speciality papers from japan, Canada, India and America. We also imported a range of rubber stamps (PSX), along with Ranger Products, and Tsukineko to mention a few. This was all back in 2000. I moved to the wholesale part of the business and got involved in window dressing and opening a second flagship store for the company while the owners were overseas. I have travelled extensively to America visiting CHA and Frankfurt Germany to their biggest paper trade show \u201cPaperworld\u201d where I gained valuable knowledge regarding the industry. After a whirlwind love affair with the business I headed off into the sunset to fulfil my second dream by working in publishing. I started off as Technical Editor on a scrapbooking magazine and worked on several other craft publications in the company as well. But this was not enough \u2013 after a long journey I started my own scrapbooking magazine, which transformed into writing a real book book as opposed to a magazine book, and the rest is history. I am currently a best-selling author in the craft industry with my book \u201cScrap-Boek\u201d being the fourth best seller in South Africa and currently in second print. I am a freelance artist doing work for various companies such as Caxton Magazines that includes Rooi Rose and Bona Magazine to mention a few. I travel regularly to various shows teaching and presenting lectures on scrapbooking, card-making and creativity. I have been published several times in American publications such as Taken Ten Magazine, Catch Up Issue \u2013 both Somerset Publications. I was also asked to be a guest artist by Taken Ten Magazine for one of their issues in which an entire article was dedicated to my work. In December 2011, I made my television debut by presenting Christmas Crafts on 3 Talk with Noeleen. After a bit of a sabbatical with my on-line classroom website Scrapcouture, we are busy revamping it with a fresh new approach to bringing creativity and new techniques to people all over the world. Other than that I spend lots of time scrapbooking and making cards and teaching classes weekly in Gauteng as well as throughout South Africa.
