The new Xcut border punches and nesting dies are some of the products I find to make creating so much easier. The designs are beautiful and the products are of such a high quality \u2013 going the extra mile.<\/h3>\n<h2>Die cuts go the extra mile on a few simple cards<\/h2>\n<p>Here are some of my favourite qualities about the new products:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have you noticed the little clear plastic flap on the punches to collect all those tiny confetti bits that normally find their way onto your floor<\/li>\n<li>The Xcut border punch\u2019 guides can be removed so you can punch anywhere the punches are really strong and it doesn&#8217;t feel like the handle is going to break off first time around<\/li>\n<li>You can punch through paper, thin cardstock, vellum, photos, packaging materials \u2013 all with great ease<\/li>\n<li>The dies have their own little magnetic storage sheet \u2013 genius. Because as we all know these little bits tend to disappear at the most inconvenient times<\/li>\n<li>The nesting dies will work on most brands of die-cutting machines making them really versatile<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>On top of the world card<\/h3>\n<p><a rel=\"media\" ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Xcut-Create-a-Frame-Card.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Xcut-Create-a-Frame-Card.jpg\" alt=\"Card Ideas Using Border Punches\" class=\"gallery_full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For this card I used the nesting Parenthesis die to create a border frame for my image to sit inside. I love how versatile the dies are and in how many different ways they can be used with different designs.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Take two of the nesting dies \u2013 2 sizes next to each other \u2013 and position them to be straight. I placed the dies upside down on my work surface with the flat side upwards. Use a strip of washi tape to secure the dies together temporarily.<\/li>\n<li>Turn over the dies and place them on your cutting plate. Add a piece of cardstock to be cut. I used the packaging from a set of Prima flowers for this and placed the design face down onto the dies.<\/li>\n<li>Send the dies through your Cuttlebug. Remove the dies and cut pieces from carefully. The washi tape kept the dies in place for a neat border cut evenly spaced all round.<br \/>\nTo finish off my card I placed and image inside of my frame and trim the excess off. The frame was placed on my card background with a stamped sentiment, buttons and a punched leaf.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a rel=\"media\" ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Xcut-Create-a-Frame-Detail.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Xcut-Create-a-Frame-Detail.jpg\" alt=\"Xcut Create a Frame Detail\" class=\"gallery_full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Music to my soul card<\/h3>\n<p><a rel=\"media\" ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Xcut-Nesting-Dies-Card.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Xcut-Nesting-Dies-Card.jpg\" alt=\"Xcut Nesting Dies Card\" class=\"gallery_full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On this card I used the nesting hexagon dies set to create a layered focal point image for my card. Cutting shapes with these dies makes life a whole lot easier. I first cut the top shape out of white cardstock and then stamped my image onto it using Black Versafine ink and a Gorjuss stamp image. I then combined my Artiste markers with some traditional watercolour paint to colour in my image before layering it onto a larger cut hexagon piece. The border at the bottom was punched using the Lace Trim punch for a beautiful and subtle effect. I added red as my accent colour on the cards making the grey and sage green combo really come to life.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"media\" ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Xcut-Border-Punch.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Xcut-Border-Punch.jpg\" alt=\"Xcut Border Punch\" class=\"gallery_full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Heart gift bag<\/h3>\n<p><a rel=\"media\" ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/docrafts-Gift-Bag-Stencil.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/docrafts-Gift-Bag-Stencil.jpg\" alt=\"docrafts Gift Bag Stencil\" class=\"gallery_full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had recently got these cute little gift bags from a local store and the colouring was just perfect to create something using the same colour combinations as the cards I had just completed. I used my Flourish border punch and just punch a random border from a piece of scrap cardstock. I then placed it onto my actual cardstock that I am going to work on and used it as a stencil to ink through. I used a finger dauber and some brown ink to achieve the soft look. This is a fun and easy way of creating your own stencils. I started off my career in retail working in a paper shop importing handmade speciality papers from japan, Canada, India and America. We also imported a range of rubber stamps (PSX), along with Ranger Products, and Tsukineko to mention a few. This was all back in 2000. I moved to the wholesale part of the business and got involved in window dressing and opening a second flagship store for the company while the owners were overseas. I have travelled extensively to America visiting CHA and Frankfurt Germany to their biggest paper trade show \u201cPaperworld\u201d where I gained valuable knowledge regarding the industry. After a whirlwind love affair with the business I headed off into the sunset to fulfil my second dream by working in publishing. I started off as Technical Editor on a scrapbooking magazine and worked on several other craft publications in the company as well. But this was not enough \u2013 after a long journey I started my own scrapbooking magazine, which transformed into writing a real book book as opposed to a magazine book, and the rest is history. I am currently a best-selling author in the craft industry with my book \u201cScrap-Boek\u201d being the fourth best seller in South Africa and currently in second print. I am a freelance artist doing work for various companies such as Caxton Magazines that includes Rooi Rose and Bona Magazine to mention a few. I travel regularly to various shows teaching and presenting lectures on scrapbooking, card-making and creativity. I have been published several times in American publications such as Taken Ten Magazine, Catch Up Issue \u2013 both Somerset Publications. I was also asked to be a guest artist by Taken Ten Magazine for one of their issues in which an entire article was dedicated to my work. In December 2011, I made my television debut by presenting Christmas Crafts on 3 Talk with Noeleen. After a bit of a sabbatical with my on-line classroom website Scrapcouture, we are busy revamping it with a fresh new approach to bringing creativity and new techniques to people all over the world. Other than that I spend lots of time scrapbooking and making cards and teaching classes weekly in Gauteng as well as throughout South Africa. I am passionate about what I do and I have had many amazing experiences and met so many famous people throughout my creative journey. I started off my career in retail working in a paper shop importing handmade speciality papers from japan, Canada, India and America. We also imported a range of rubber stamps (PSX), along with Ranger Products, and Tsukineko to mention a few. This was all back in 2000. I moved to the wholesale part of the business and got involved in window dressing and opening a second flagship store for the company while the owners were overseas. I have travelled extensively to America visiting CHA and Frankfurt Germany to their biggest paper trade show \u201cPaperworld\u201d where I gained valuable knowledge regarding the industry. After a whirlwind love affair with the business I headed off into the sunset to fulfil my second dream by working in publishing. I started off as Technical Editor on a scrapbooking magazine and worked on several other craft publications in the company as well. But this was not enough \u2013 after a long journey I started my own scrapbooking magazine, which transformed into writing a real book book as opposed to a magazine book, and the rest is history. I am currently a best-selling author in the craft industry with my book \u201cScrap-Boek\u201d being the fourth best seller in South Africa and currently in second print. I am a freelance artist doing work for various companies such as Caxton Magazines that includes Rooi Rose and Bona Magazine to mention a few. I travel regularly to various shows teaching and presenting lectures on scrapbooking, card-making and creativity. I have been published several times in American publications such as Taken Ten Magazine, Catch Up Issue \u2013 both Somerset Publications. I was also asked to be a guest artist by Taken Ten Magazine for one of their issues in which an entire article was dedicated to my work. In December 2011, I made my television debut by presenting Christmas Crafts on 3 Talk with Noeleen. After a bit of a sabbatical with my on-line classroom website Scrapcouture, we are busy revamping it with a fresh new approach to bringing creativity and new techniques to people all over the world. Other than that I spend lots of time scrapbooking and making cards and teaching classes weekly in Gauteng as well as throughout South Africa. I am passionate about what I do and I have had many amazing experiences and met so many famous people throughout my creative journey.
