I am continually amazed at the beautiful textures and images produced by the new Couture Creations Embossing folders. The more you try them on different surfaces the more you just want to emboss everything in sight! Do you know the feeling? Do you find yourself asking how cool would that surface look if I embossed it using my new embossing folder? Then you are officially addicted as I am.<\/h3>\n

The new range of Fine Designs Embossing Folders<\/a> stole my heart the minute I saw the designs. But it was only until I tried them of different cardstocks that I was head over heels in love. <\/p>\n

I tried the embossing folders on an assortment of cardstocks from texture and matt to glossy and smooth and the results were amazing. Trust me when I say not all embossing folders are equal. Here\u2019s what I found…<\/p>\n

Embossing on packaging materials<\/h2>\n

I used a piece of cardstock from the Teresa Collins\u2019<\/a> brad packaging. The cardstock is smooth, heavyweight and glossy with a beautiful printed design on it. I embossed it using the Exotic embossing folder. The effect was amazing and I loved the end result \u2013 I have found that embossing heavier cardstock gives a cleaner and nicer impression than a thin and flimsy cardstock.<\/p>\n

Embossing American Crafts cardstock<\/h2>\n

I embossed white American Crafts Cardstock<\/a> using the Exotic, Passion and Oooh La La embossing folders. I used the three different folders separately and then combined them on my layout. The end result was really good and I loved the texture on texture effect \u2013 the texture from the cardstock and the texture\/pattern from the embossing folders combined. To add colour to the embossed pieces I lightly misted them with a combination of water and Mr Huey Gold mist. It created a beautiful yellow-cream colour that worked perfectly with my project colours.<\/p>\n

Embossing on plain white cardstock<\/h2>\n

This is the ultimate in embossing pleasure! I used a piece of plain white cardstock that is smooth and matt for my embossing and then punched them into circles to use as accents on my layout. I absolutely love this look \u2013 it\u2019s classy and elegant and fun at the same time depending on how you use the embossed pieces. I envision these embossing folders to be used for wedding invitations a lot in the coming year.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the story layout<\/h2>\n

For my layout I wanted to create an embossed, textured strip across the middle section. The colours had to be neutral but not too clinical, so I embossed white cardstock pieces and lightly misted them using Gold Mister Huey’s ink<\/a>. The colour is a beautiful shiny creamy-gold colour \u2013 a perfect match for my recycled packaging and other elements like the flowers<\/a>. I also embossed plain white cardstock and punched them into circle to create some accents that wouldn’t overpower the rest of the page, but rather add subtle texture and patterns to the overall design.
