We really don\u2019t know when the end will be \u2013 and it may be predicted to all come to an end this week \u2013 but it may not happen. For some people the end means something scary and for others something less scary \u2013 the one thing we know for sure is that it is unknown to all of us. Having said that, I will keep on crafting beautiful things to make life truly lovely. I want to make things that reflect the beauty we should all strive to live \u2013 beauty above comprehension. And so I set about making a project that will light the way in a beautiful manner here on earth…<\/h3>\n

Hanging Lantern Light<\/h2>\n

I wanted to make a pretty hanging light, and in order to make the project easier I bought a Chinese lantern ready-made to use as the base for my project. I wanted to add some of the pretty Glitz <\/a>patterned papers and giant rhinestones into the design, so I selected the Pretty in Pink<\/a> and Yours Truly<\/a> ranges to guide my colour combination. The pink, creams and grey was what I focussed on and included a soft buttercup yellow as a neutral colour pulling the design together.<\/p>\n

I used a combination of beautiful Petaloo<\/a> and Prima<\/a> flowers \u2013 what will a beautiful project celebrating life be without any flowers on it. For my paper accents I used the butterfly die-cut<\/a> on my Cuttlebug<\/a> to cut several butterflies. Some butterflies were simple decorated by sewing pearls to the centres for dimension, and other butterflies were sewn together 2 on top of each other and the thread left in long flowing strands for a funky modern twist. I used a leaf die also on my Cuttlebug<\/a> and gave them the same sewn treatment as the butterflies. By sewing them together you can fold the edges of the top leaf upwards giving them dimension. For the smaller paper flowers I used a paper punch<\/a> and punched flowers from the scraps left-over after I die-cut the butterflies and leaves. I used a stylus tool on a piece of foam to curl them in the centres making the petals stand up making them really realistic looking.<\/p>\n

Once I gathered all my die-cut elements, punched flowers, blooms, pearls and giant rhinestones I started adhering them to the light. For easy handling I placed the light on top of a large vase working on a section at a time \u2013 adding elements until I was happy with the look. Remember to balance the front and back side with equal weight placement of the elements in order for the light to hang straight.<\/p>\n

I love the messy and beautiful effect of all the elements combined. The star of this project is most certainly the beautiful Glitz patterned papers<\/a> but the supporting blooms are a close second. And remember true beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. <\/p>\n

So whether it really is the end or not \u2013 keep on crafting, keep on making beautiful things that will enrich your life and the lives of those around you. Live a life of Faith, Hope and Love until the very end.<\/strong><\/p>\n
