Not only during the holidays but also for everyday use, and sometimes just for fun. As part of my French neutral colour scheme around my work area and home I wanted to keep Christmas a bit more vintage in certain areas. So as part of d\u00e9cor I am creating various items that can be quite useful as much as they are pretty.<\/h3>\n<p>To create my Cuttlebug Christmas d\u00e9cor cube, I used an ordinary wooden cube measuring 7cm on all sides for this project. They can be used in a myriad of ways, for instance I use them as name tags for place settings and even as paper weights to keep things together, or sometimes just part as a festive vignette.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"media\" title=\"Cuttlebug Christmas D\u00e9cor Cube\" ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Cuttlebug-Christmas-Decor-Cube.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Cuttlebug-Christmas-Decor-Cube.jpg\" alt=\"Cuttlebug Christmas D\u00e9cor Cube\" class=\"gallery_full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Adding texture to projects<\/h2>\n<p>In a few easy steps I added texture to my project using my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/we-love-cuttlebug\/\" title=\"We Love Cuttlebug\">Cuttlebug<\/a> and a <a title=\"Cuttlebug Embossing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/Cuttlebug\">Christmas embossing folder<\/a>. I used a neutral patterned paper but wanted to add some colour too along with the embossed texture. Here\u2019s how&#8230;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n[custom_list type=&#8221;dot&#8221;]\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Step 1<\/h3>\n<p>Use a dye ink pad to add colour to the top part of the embossing folder. Place the embossing folder in front of you and open the folder so that the top part folds up wards. Swipe the ink pad across the texture in a smooth motion to get an even coverage of ink. Place the selected piece of paper on the bottom part of the folder with the right side of the paper facing upwards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a rel=\"media\" title=\"Cuttlebug Christmas D\u00e9cor Cube - Step 1\" ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Cuttlebug-Christmas-Decor-Cube-Step-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Cuttlebug-Christmas-Decor-Cube-Step-1.jpg\" alt=\"Cuttlebug Christmas D\u00e9cor Cube - Step 1\" class=\"gallery_full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n[custom_list type=&#8221;dot&#8221;]\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Step 2<\/h3>\n<p>Close the embossing folder and place the folder inside the sandwich. The sandwich refers to the stack of plates used to regulate the height so that the embossing folder or die will reach to the rollers applying the pressure. The sandwich is as follows: A plate, B plate, embossing folder and B plate \u2013 from bottom to top.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a rel=\"media\" title=\"Cuttlebug Christmas D\u00e9cor Cube - Step 2\" ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Cuttlebug-Christmas-Decor-Cube-Step-2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Cuttlebug-Christmas-Decor-Cube-Step-2.jpg\" alt=\"Cuttlebug Christmas D\u00e9cor Cube - Step 2\" class=\"gallery_full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n[custom_list type=&#8221;dot&#8221;]\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Step 3<\/h3>\n<p>Make sure that the plates of the sandwich all line up together in the front and back of the stack. Roll the sandwich through the machine by turning the handle. As the stack feeds through the machine the pressure applied to the embossing folder and in return onto the paper \u2013 the embossing folder now applies both pressure and colour to the paper because the embossing folder was inked in step 1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a rel=\"media\" title=\"Cuttlebug Christmas D\u00e9cor Cube - Step 3\" ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Cuttlebug-Christmas-Decor-Cube-Step-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Cuttlebug-Christmas-Decor-Cube-Step-3.jpg\" alt=\"Cuttlebug Christmas D\u00e9cor Cube - Step 3\" class=\"gallery_full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n[custom_list type=&#8221;dot&#8221;]\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h3>Step 4<\/h3>\n<p>Remove the plate stack from the machine. Open the embossing folder to reveal the beautifully embossed image. I love how the ink gives the image a more defined look. To finish off the embossed image I added a layer of silver glitter glue applied with my fingers before adhering the papers to the wooden cube.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a rel=\"media\" title=\"Cuttlebug Christmas D\u00e9cor Cube - Step 4\" ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Cuttlebug-Christmas-Decor-Cube-Step-4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Cuttlebug-Christmas-Decor-Cube-Step-4.jpg\" alt=\"Cuttlebug Christmas D\u00e9cor Cube - Step 4\" class=\"gallery_full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Tip<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The most important thing to remember when using your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewholesaler.biz\/blog\/we-love-cuttlebug\/\" title=\"We Love Cuttlebug\">Cuttlebug machine<\/a> is to get the correct stacking order of the plates or the sandwich<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that the plates are lines up on the front when you place them inside the machine. Lightly push them forward, if the handle starts turning automatically then the sandwich is correct and you can just start turning the handle<\/li>\n<li>By placing the Cuttlebug machine on a smooth surface like your desk, and then lowering the sides, the machine will \u201cgrab\u201d onto your desk surface with a suction motion. I started off my career in retail working in a paper shop importing handmade speciality papers from japan, Canada, India and America. We also imported a range of rubber stamps (PSX), along with Ranger Products, and Tsukineko to mention a few. This was all back in 2000. I moved to the wholesale part of the business and got involved in window dressing and opening a second flagship store for the company while the owners were overseas. I have travelled extensively to America visiting CHA and Frankfurt Germany to their biggest paper trade show \u201cPaperworld\u201d where I gained valuable knowledge regarding the industry. After a whirlwind love affair with the business I headed off into the sunset to fulfil my second dream by working in publishing. I started off as Technical Editor on a scrapbooking magazine and worked on several other craft publications in the company as well. But this was not enough \u2013 after a long journey I started my own scrapbooking magazine, which transformed into writing a real book book as opposed to a magazine book, and the rest is history. I am currently a best-selling author in the craft industry with my book \u201cScrap-Boek\u201d being the fourth best seller in South Africa and currently in second print. I am a freelance artist doing work for various companies such as Caxton Magazines that includes Rooi Rose and Bona Magazine to mention a few. I travel regularly to various shows teaching and presenting lectures on scrapbooking, card-making and creativity. I have been published several times in American publications such as Taken Ten Magazine, Catch Up Issue \u2013 both Somerset Publications. I was also asked to be a guest artist by Taken Ten Magazine for one of their issues in which an entire article was dedicated to my work. In December 2011, I made my television debut by presenting Christmas Crafts on 3 Talk with Noeleen. After a bit of a sabbatical with my on-line classroom website Scrapcouture, we are busy revamping it with a fresh new approach to bringing creativity and new techniques to people all over the world. Other than that I spend lots of time scrapbooking and making cards and teaching classes weekly in Gauteng as well as throughout South Africa. I am passionate about what I do and I have had many amazing experiences and met so many famous people throughout my creative journey.
