What\u2019s not to love about a well-designed chipboard embellishment? Chipboard has come a long way from the grey dirty looking stuff that had to be painted with several layers of paint in order to get any kind of good coverage. These days\u2019 chipboard elements are no longer restricted to grey chip, but are readily available in cream mount (matt) board and a smooth white board that offers loads of possibilities design wise. So what will it be \u2013 naked chipboard or dressed up?<\/h3>\n

In order to get the most out of your chipboard you need to know which products are best to use on the specific type of board. For example a pigment ink pad used to stamp wording onto a smooth white board type element will never dry \u2013 this is because pigment ink does not dry on \u2018glossy smooth surfaces. But there is an alternative \u2013 you can stamp onto the glossy board with a pigment ink and then cover the stamped image in embossing powder and heat set it using a heat gun. So this shows you that when you know the surface type you can achieve a variety of different looks by combining beautiful chipboard designs with products and techniques.<\/p>\n

The great thing about chipboard is whether you decide to dress it or leave it naked. And believe me I simply love the natural bare look of a naked chipboard piece. By adding a layer of Anita\u2019s 3D Glaze<\/a> to plain chipboard is simply spectacular. Less can be more sometimes.<\/p>\n

To show you a couple of different ways on how to dress your chipboard pieces I made four samples showing you different effects and looks.<\/p>\n

Embossing<\/h2>\n

I love how embossing can literally turn anything into a work of art. The smooth and rich coverage on the chipboard keyhole was done using 3 layers of Zing! Chestnut embossing powder. I first liberally cover the chipboard piece with VersaMark Ink<\/a>, then cover with a layer of embossing powder<\/a>, shake off the excess and then heat with my heat gun. I repeat the process 3 times for a beautiful smooth look.<\/p>\n
