Celebrations are always big in South Africa \u2013 as the saying goes go BIG or go home. So in celebration of National Braai Day or Heritage Day I made this layout using some fun Cricut elements.<\/h3>\n

I love how the new Cricut Expressions 2<\/a> machine enables you to cut a variety of elements at once and in different sizes \u2013 it really is quick and convenient. I used the 3 Birds on Parade Cartridge<\/a> for its fun bird themed elements \u2013 and it was the only one with a Braai (BBQ) theme on that I have in my stash currently. I wanted to create a bright and fun layout \u2013 something that will show the true colours of the South African nation \u2013 our rainbow nation.<\/p>\n

Staying true to my scrapping style is always important to me, so even while I have added fun Cricut die-cut elements pieced together I added my signature ink splashes and artistic elements to this page tying things together beautifully. The striking PB&J range from BasicGrey<\/a> helped me select the perfect bright coloured cardstock pieces to die-cut the different elements out of. I drew inspiration straight from the gorgeous patterned paper and used the red from my photos as accent colour repeated in the title and other embellishments.<\/p>\n

Adding texture to my title<\/h3>\n

Adding my die cut title to a white background would have been very ordinary. So instead I used the Polka Dots embossing folder<\/a> and my Cuttlebug<\/a> machine to emboss dots onto the title for some texture. Behind my title I used the amazing new Artiste Dual Tip Brush Markers<\/a> to add a watercolour splash to the background cardstock. Although hardly visible it makes for a stunning effect on plain cardstock.<\/p>\n
