Nothing says baby boy quite like a blue and white celebration. I wanted this baby boy shower for a little guy to be all about the cake… So instead of baking a huge big cake we opted for small yummy cupcakes in chocolate of course and then made a larger cake (well) to last a lifetime. Here\u2019s how…<\/h3>\n

I used a polystyrene base and wrapped it in a paper band, adhered a paper circle on top and decorated the top using a wide variety of embellishments and flowers.<\/p>\n

\nFor the top part of the cake I layered it with a fun selection of paper flowers in shades of blue. A wooden party fork dipped into blue paint to decorate the handle was inserted into the polystyrene base first and the flowers layered against and around it.<\/p>\n

The cute little naked chipboard Babygro was adhered inside the flower layer as an added decoration. Then the entire layer was sprinkled with beads and pearls to mimic cake decorations. <\/p>\n

The top rim of the cake was finished off with a layer of punched flowers adhered to the edge where the papers meet. This is a nice touch to mimic those pretty icing flowers that the professionals make. The little flower is a docrafts<\/em> punch \u2013 see the wide selection available from The Wholesaler.<\/p>\n

The cake was placed on a painted wooden box with the bottom decorated with a sheet of patterned paper to add to the theme. The cake was positioned to give it more height and make it visible and then decorated with some fun edible things.<\/p>\n

For the real edible cake, I made miniature cupcakes to fit into some cute little espresso cups to match the colour scheme. A sprinkling of blue and white hundreds and thousands, and some fun silver chocolate drops finish off the cupcakes beautifully.<\/p>\n

Printed cupcake toppers adhered to toothpicks are placed on the cupcakes to make them look really festive. You can design your own or use some of the gorgeous ready-made embellishments and stickers available from The Wholesaler. I love the range from Kaisercraft.<\/p>\n

Here I used a heart sticker and diamant\u00e9 from the Kaisercraft range to further decorate my printed toppers to make them extra special. The painted wooden forks can be used by guest to eat their cupcakes and then discarded afterwards without having to do any dishes.<\/p>\n
