Embossing Paste Christmas Card – How To With Jowilna

Turn an experiment into a Christmas card – I often have bits of cardstock lying around that have ink on them: used as testers, leftover embossing paste stencilled through a stencil from a previous project and so on. I never chuck these pieces of cardstock away as they can always be turned into something truly unique. I used this piece that had embossing paste stars on it and created a shimmering background for a Christmas card – simple, quick and easy.   Step 1 Gather three colours of All-Purpose Inks to create the shimmering coloured...

Celebr8 Life’s Journey

“The new Celebr8 Life’s Journey collection has been designed to remind us to enjoy the little things in life as well as the big. Life can be fleeting and comes with its ups and downs just as with all journeys. The important thing is to “Focus on what’s Important” and “Embrace the Detours” along the way. The colour palette for this collection is a combination of vibrant blues and reds. The camera theme makes this collection perfect for any project that is centred around photo’s. The collection is summed up by a quote used in...

Liquid Drops 3D Pearls – Jowilna’s Advanced Class

Creating embossed effects is easy, but adding loads of interest can be a little tricky. Today I am showing you how you can create both in a few easy steps by using a variety of my favourite products from The Wholesaler.   I combined texture paste with heat embossing and finished off the shimmer with some more shiny products, let’s take a look… Step 1 I used a piece of scrap cardstock that had some colour on it already. Apply some texture with a white finish through a stencil. Step 2 While the texture paste is still wet add gold and...

Brilliance Inks and Heat Embossing – Jowilna’s Favourite Things

Brilliance Inks and Heat Embossing are two of my favourite things. Brilliance for its gorgeous shimmer and versatility, and heat embossing for its magic. So, combining the two is always magical and sparkly. And yes you can emboss Brilliance Ink because it is a pigment ink and fairly wet so you have time to add clear embossing powder and then heat set it…   Step 1 I combined my Brilliance inks onto a tag background by blending the ink onto my tag with the direct to paper technique in small circular movements. Mist the inks with...

Bleached Dye Ink – Jowilna 101

I love creating interesting effects using my ink collection. One of the things I love using is bleach. And even more exciting is the fact that all dye inks can be bleached to create amazing effects. Let’s take a look at home amazing the end result is. Step 1 Use four colours of dye ink to blend a piece of white cardstock. I used a selection of Memento Ink colours. Step 2 Stamp images onto the blended background using VersaFine Onyx Black ink. Step 3 To add some highlights to the images I used bleach (Jik) and painted selected areas on my...

Stamp and Embossing – How To With Jowilna

Here’s how to create a realistic brick wall effect using inks you already have in your stash. A few weeks ago, I showed you how to create a brick wall effect using texture paste and a stencil. Well, guess what? Yes, I am doing it again but this time around using a stamp and embossing. The moral of the story – you can create different looks with different products. So with each new look you can choose which you prefer for a specific project you have in mind and even for products you may have on hand. Versatility is key in crafting and...

Coffee and Inks – Jowilna’s Advanced Class

Coffee and inks play an important role in my life, so sooner or later the two had to merge. Today I am sharing how I turned some coffee filters into a beautiful background for cards. Select four colours of All Purpose Inks to use to add colour to your coffee filters. You will also need a pipette. Drop your lightest and first colour of ink onto your coffee filter. Add a few drops of the second colour of All Purpose Inks. Spread your colours out over the entire surface. Add your third colour of ink and continue adding the fourth and last colour...
