Christmas in July – a festive layout from last year

Every year we have the same problem – there are either loads of new Christmas papers in time to scrap those beautiful memories or there is none available, you can just never tell what is going to happen. The problem comes in when you start printing photos and you end up with all those red and green photos but the paper range you really want to work with ends up being not so green and red – you follow me right?

Festive Layout Christmas Wishes

Well this time around I wasn’t even half disappointed or let down by the paper or the photos, because what Kaisercraft has done is found the perfect middle way and made a range that is perfectly compatible and it really is quite amazing in every sense.

Festive Layout Family

I used the Christmas Wishes range to create this layout and turns out that the pinks can be quite red and instead of showing off how out of place the red in my photos are, it compliments them perfectly. The subtle shades of green, mint, blue, gold and even purple all acts as neutral colours making this range perfectly well-suited for even the brightest of Christmas photos in red and green.

To the top of my festive layout I added the softest of detail using art sugar from Prima. It mimics ice crystals and adds just enough interest and detail to this layout without taking away too much attention from what is really important.

To make the crystals

Festive Layout Tree Crystals

  • Step 1

Add some texture paste through a stencil and set aside to dry. Once dry use your glaze and draw crystals at the top of your layout.

  • Festive Layout - Step 1

  • Step 2

Sprinkle the glaze with art sugar or glitter and leave the glaze to dry underneath. Once dry shake off the extra art sugar and return to the container.

  • Festive Layout - Step 2

And there you have a stunning effect mimicking the look of crystals dangling from the ceiling. It is the perfect touch of sparkle and shine.

Festive Layout Warmest Wishes

And that’s how easy it is to capture those precious memories before, during and even a year after Christmas using this amazing range of papers from Kaisercraft – whether your festive colours and neutral or bright and beautiful it all works!
