The basics of the GoPress and Foil machine – Jowilna’s 101

There are few things that one can really say are better than sliced bread, but this machine is one of them! The minute I saw the GoPress and Foil in action I was convinced that it simply had to be in my stash – and I was right.

This statement does not go without a warning though…it is very addictive, and you have to make sure you have enough foil on hand – because if you run out well, let’s just leave it at that…

I created a few simple Christmas cards when I got the machine using the gorgeous Reindeer and Peace on Earth Hotfoil Stamps.

The result is simply spectacular and so easy to achieve.

  • Step 1

Place your Hotfoil stamp in the machine face up and switch the machine on. It will heat up initially for a couple of minutes. If you place your Hotfoil stamp inside the machine when the green light is on, leave your stamp to heat up for 60 seconds. Prepare your foil and cardstock in the meantime.

  • Step 2

Place the foil with the coloured side facing down onto the stamp.

  • Step 3

Place your cardstock on top of the foil.

  • Step 4

Add a few shims – this can be any cardstock pieces over the project.

  • Step 5

Close the lid and feed it through your GoCut and Emboss machine.

TIP: Feed it through slowly backwards and forwards.
  • Step 6

Remove it from the machine. Open the lid and carefully remove the cardstock shims and the cardstock project piece.

TIP: You should see the design indented into the foil then you know that the image has transferred correctly.
  • Step 6

Carefully peel the foil off the design to reveal the heat foiled image on your cardstock.

TIP: if you have any unwanted foil transferred onto your cardstock piece around the design, simply use a glue eraser and erase the foil. This foil is not burned into the cardstock, but simply a little residue that can be removed successfully.

Remember to switch off your machine when done. It will turn off automatically after 25 minutes if left unused.

Now go and have fun and try not to foil everything you see! Next time around we will explore some fun foiling projects to show how versatile the machine is.

  11. Can you use any stamp or must it be hotfoil stamp?

  12. Hello Inz,
The platform of the GoPress & Foil is heated, so normal stamps will melt. You need to use the metal hotfoil stamps 🙂
This is an amazing video that shows you a couple of different ways of using the machines, including cutting dies, embossing folders and more. Take a look here: https://youtu.be/H1TS72IwBZ0
